Objective

Synergy LMS, an industrial laundry provider for healthcare, air travel and leisure had multiple distribution sites throughout the UK. The main distribution sites were connected by MPLS which also linked to a provider hosted datacentre.

All infrastructure and support including local and datacentre services were outsourced and fully managed. The Synergy LMS team needed increased visibility and control over the local infrastructure at each site as well as reducing costs by replacing their MPLS with SD-WAN technology.

Cisco Meraki was chosen as the preferred vendor for it’s ease of use, visibility, SD-WAN capabilities and cost effectiveness.

With a lean IT support team, Synergy LMS can now see what’s going on at each site from a single view through the Cisco Meraki dashboard – wherever and whenever they need.

The new solution served as the building blocks for the Synergy LMS team to migrate off their MPLS WAN and onto cost effective internet links whilst also enabling them to utilise VPN technology to secure traffic towards their newly commissioned Azure cloud.

Approach 

Phase 1 – Proof of Concept

The Re-solution team were engaged to provide a proof of concept of the pro- posed solution at their Slough office. The Cisco Meraki hardware was seam- lessly integrated into their existing environment ensuring that services could be accessed across both their legacy and new infrastructure. All hardware was provided on a trial basis to fully ensure the solution would work as designed without budgetary risk.

Phase 2 – Rollout to Key Sites

The Cisco Meraki Solution was subsequently rolled out to four of their key distribution sites located throughout the UK. By utilising Cisco Meraki Technology the Re-solution team ensured that the solution was deployed ahead of schedule.

Phase 3 – Ongoing Support

Re-solution continue to provide a managed service for Synergy LMS’s Cisco Meraki infrastructure across all 5 sites incorporating all updates, upgrades, break fixes and vendor escalation.

Conclusion 

Using the simplicity of Cisco Meraki and Re-solutions expertise, Synergy LMS now have greater control of their overall infrastructure at key locations. Changes can be now made quickly and effectively from anywhere whilst key stakeholders can also be alerted of any potential issues with automated alerts.

Re-solution professional and managed services proved valuable in the design and implementation as well as the ongoing support. Synergy LMS could not be more pleased with the overall outcome.
